With the hMail service, if an Apple phone (iPhone) user checks email, the phone will keep the email connection open, preventing any other devices from checking mail. This means that your Outlook can not download your messages. This situation is unique to iPhone. There are no issues with Blackberry/Droid or any other Smartphones.
What to do if you have hMail and an iPhone?
Here is a work around.
- Within hMail Admin create a new account for your iPhone, such as iphone@domain.xxx.

Set up your existing email account within hMail Admin to Forward to the iPhone email account. Be sure to check “Keep Original Messages” when setting up the forwarding.

Add the iPhone email account information to your iPhone.The settings for your iPhone will be the same as the Outlook settings.
Be sure you only have your iPhone email account set up on your iPhone and NOT in Outlook.
Using the above workaround, the iPhone will not interfere with outlook when checking messages. |
