SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. This option provides additional security to your email communication while in transit. However, since most of the time a person's email is not secure at their computer or where it is ultimately sent, the SSL option doesn't completely secure your messages. If you choose to use SSL, you can use it with RackMail. Your server settings need to change.
